The City of Tomahawk asked for proposals to purchase the old Lincoln Industries building at 1775 Kaphaem Road. The Rock Church, then meeting at SARA Park, put together a document outlining their request to create a “faith-based community center”.
Our goal isn’t to just have a building for worship on Sunday mornings. Instead, we want to create a building that serves the community seven-days-a-week.
Pastor Barry, with his camping background, suggested either creating the following programs:
• Community Education (e.g. Astronomy)
• Community Events (e.g. Campfire Night)
• Day Camp
• Lay-Counseling Programming
• School-Age Child Care
And much more!
In addition, we’ve begun the process of partnering with groups to serve the City of Tomahawk and surrounding areas. These programs include:
• Aging and Disability Resources (ADRC)
• Crescent Lake Bible Camp
• Domestic Violence Intervention
• Mental Health First Aid
• Northern Lakes Impact Center
• QPR (Suicide Prevention)
• The Trek
• Tomahawk Area interfaith Volunteers
• Tomahawk Community Theater
And so much more!
Our first step will be to fix the building and get it ready for our regular Sunday services. (We’re hoping to have that done by June 15, 2025.) Then, as we continue to finalize the building, we will work to build long-term, lasting relationships that will allow us to serve the community better!
